Swivl Deployment Plan
Overview
The Swivl robotic base can follow the "marker," either held or worn on a lanyard, allowing the instructor or presenter to move around freely and have the camera follow them. The marker conveniently doubles as a wireless microphone and as a remote control for the slides in the Swivl Capture app. Powerpoint slides can be imported to the Swivl app on the smartphone or tablet, which can be used to present while recording video, and facilitate the creation of a video with time-synchronized slides and presenter video. The Swivl Capture app can be used with Swivl Cloud without the Swivl robot, or with the Swivl robot.
Deployment
Schools can that are not housing a Swivl may request one from a school that has one. One way to facilitate sharing is through Jessica Keegan (jwkeegan@oceansideschools.org) x8599 or through the Elementary Teaching & Learning Coaches:
Suji Cibirka - Grade 1 & 2 (scibirka@oceansideschools.org)
Kathleen Blake - Grade 3 & 4 (knicoletti@oceansideschools.org)
Amy Gigliobianco - Grades 5 & 6 (agigliobianco@oceansideschools.org)
Please make sure, if you wish to borrow one, that you allow time for interoffice transport. The Instructional Assistant will provide instruction and support to teachers on how to use the device as well as assist, when needed, on uploading videos. In addition, Instructional Assistants will be responsible for charging and maintaining the associated iPad in addition to charging the Swivl base and keeping track of the whole setup.
Home Base
Each Swivl will have a “home base” where the device will be housed when not in use. The locations and caretakers are as follows:
Schools #2 (with Jessica Keegan at x8599 and the TLCs at x8582)
Schools #3 (with Anne Saccente)
Schools #4 (with Kathy Duignan)
School #6 (with Fran Cuomo-Perpero)
School OHS (scheduled use through Tech Center)
